Research Data Analysis Supervisor

Job Summary

Under general direction of the Associate Director, Data and Software, supervises the Data & Reporting Group. Responsibilities include coordination of project deliverables and documentation, overseeing the data validation process and delivery to the program funding agencies, supervising data validation staff, developing and maintaining internal and external communications with funding agencies and state validators, contributing sections to the quality assurance reports, and ensuring data validation documentation are maintained. Exercises initiative, originality, and judgment in applying established principles and practices to unique and unusual problems.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education/Experience:           

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or engineering discipline, and ability to comprehend and communicate complex scientific concepts along with at least 5 years work experience in a scientific, engineering, or related field.
  • Experience overseeing the scope and work of an analytical support team to include: delegating, coordinating, supervising and evaluating workload and assignments, developing a staffing plan; training, mentoring and motivating staff; and managing performance.
  • Experience with a scientific programming language, such as R or Python.
  • Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL).Theoretical background and professional level of knowledge in air quality measurements and analysis.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) :

  • Organizational skills to prioritize tasks, manage project deliverables, meet deadlines, and track progress including scientific measurements.
  • Scientific writing, technical writing, editing, and proofreading skills to develop project reports, correspondence, presentations, and coordinate projects concisely and clearly.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Education/Experience:            

  • Master’s degree in a scientific discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Hands-on experience validating environmental monitoring network data.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) :

  • Interpersonal and communication skills to clearly, diplomatically, and effectively interact with individuals of varying perspectives/backgrounds, establish and maintain cooperative working relationships across interdisciplinary teams, and anticipate interconnections between different entities within the organization.
  • Knowledge and understanding of mathematical concepts such as robust statistics and linear regression equations.
  • Computer skills with word processing, spreadsheet, database, flowchart and presentation software and conducting internet research.
