Baseline atmospheric monitoring on Chews Ridge at the Oliver Observing Station operated by the Monterey Institute for Research in Astronomy (MIRA: http://www.mira.org/ )

The Oliver Observing Station is situated on top of Chews Ridge at 1550 m elevation in the Santa Lucia Mountain Range in Monterey County. Two-thirds of the time the winds there are southwesterly (onshore) and have not been influenced recently by the ocean or North American emissions. The site is approximately 20 km downwind of the Big Sur coastline in the Los Padres National Forest and is powered by photovoltaics and a wind turbine.

You can see current conditions from the site here:  Oliver Observing Station (http://tycho.mira.org/oosweather).
