Research Interests

  • Transportation - Coupled impacts of transportation infrastructure and activities on air and water quality
  • Urban and Regional Smog - Understanding deposition and photodegradation of particle bound atmospheric contaminants and impacts on water quality
  • Agricultural Emissions - Pesticide impacts on water and air quality

Research Summary

At the micro scale my research seeks to understand the nature of the interactions between trace contaminants and natural particles in air and water. At the larger scale, the research focuses on the tate, transport, transformation and effects of trace contaminants in aquatic systems, with a special emphasis on the role of atmospheric contributions.

Teaching Summary

I teach environmental chemistry courses at the undergraduate (ECI 140) and graduate levels (ECI 245A and ECI 245B). I also teach a graduate class on physical-chemical processes important in treatment of water and wastes (ECI 243A).
