Student Job: Marketing & Outreach Support


The Air Quality Research Center at UC Davis has an open position for an undergraduate student with an interest in outreach and marketing. The Outreach Assistant would have excellent organizational, writing, analytical and inter-personal skills, would be detail-oriented and an excellent task manager. The student will work at the Center’s office on Drew Avenue and will communicate with the Conference & Outreach Manager daily to develop and manage various marketing opportunities presented for the Center’s Conferences.


Candidates will be responsible for helping with the day-to-day outreach operations of the Center as well as select outreach projects. Additional duties, such as website updates and graphic design projects will be suited to the skill set of the selected candidates.

Tasks may include but are not limited to:

  • Development of marketing materials for events (Press releases, News articles, etc)
  • E-mail campaign design and management
  • Designing of graphics to share in email and social media campaigns
  • Administration of Social Media Campaigns (tagging, connecting topics, requesting shares)
  • Copyediting and writing
  • Constituent & marketing database management
  • Video editing, tagging and marketing
  • Webinar support
  • Front-end website management
  • Distribution of event outreach materials
  • Additional tasks related to Conference Outreach as needed.


  • Must have strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook; Social platforms (Twitter, LinkedIn); Excel spreadsheets, Google Forms, and Adobe PDFs
  • Experience using web content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal),, Canva, Email services (MyEmma, ConstantContact, etc), and webinar services is a plus.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, must be detail-oriented, communicate in a clear and professional manner, meet short deadlines, and have the flexibility to change tasks as necessary.
  • Proficient interpersonal and communications skills that make for effective project management.
  • Experience in outreach, both verbal and written, emails, writing, editing and proofing in a professional setting, including tailoring language to suit the needs of unique audiences.
  • Candidates who demonstrate knowledge, experience, and/or interest with one or more of the topics of sustainability, climate change, and air quality improvement is desired but not required.
  • Be a student in good standing at UC Davis.
