Research Interests

  • Health Effects - Inhalation deposition and biological effects of inhaled toxic or radioactive particles and gases, lung airway morphometry.
  • Urban and Regional Smog - Biological response to inhaled airborne particles and gases, inhalation deposition of inhaled particles and gases; airborne particle characterization.
  • Indoor Air Quality - Indoor radon & its decay products.

Research Summary

My research interests are broadly divided between radiation biophysics, aerosol science, and inhalation toxicology. My publications include research in Radiation Biology and Biophysics, Internal Radiation Dosimetry, Radiation Carcinogenesis, Dose response Relationships, Risk Assessment, Health Physics, Environmental Health, Environmental Radioactivity, Airborne Radioactivity, Inhalation Toxicology, Inhalation Exposure Equipment and Methods, Chemical Toxicology and Carcinogenesis, Aerosol Science, Aerosols in Medicine, Generation of Aerosols, and Airborne Particle Sampling and Characterization.

Teaching Summary

Although I am not now teaching classes, I have previously taught or co-taught various classes in Environmental Engineering (Air Pollution; Airborne Particles), Environmental Radioactivity, and Molecular Biosciences (Toxicology).
